Hello Southside families. I am Mrs. Smith. I have been a part of the Southside community since 2006 when I married my husband, Stad. I have loved being a tiger so much, that I now share the experience with my two sons. They are in second and fifth grade. We are a family that strives to be Smart, Strong, and Selfless every day, but we all belong to the STONG SQUAD! We love playing with our dog, Belle and we also enjoy playing golf and swimming at the pool as a family.
I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I went on to get my masters in education with a reading and writing endorsement in 2008 from Eastern Kentucky University. I obtained my National Boards Certification in literacy in 2010. I have obtained a second masters in 2017 as a library media specialist from Western Kentucky University.
This is my 18th year of teaching, but it is my fourth year in the library. I have a passion for finding books that students cannot put down. It is my goal to help every student at Southside to become a life long reader and learn how to critically think when they are researching and locating new information. I know with just the right book to interest a reader, there is a passion for reading in all of us.
Make sure you check our page regularly to see what is going on in the library and at Southside. Also follow us on Twitter, so you can watch for those who have been caught reading throughout the day. Happy reading.
